I am going to share a short sample of what to expect from me as your photographer: If you are considering me as your photographer, I will first off be happy to meet you for coffee or zoom call if you want to get to know me better! IF you decide to book me, I just required a small deposit $200 or $300 depending on the package you pick. I then mail you a package with a contract and some other goodies for you. Once I receive your deposit and contract, we schedule your engagement session. Your engagement session can last anywhere from 45-90 minutes! I basically shoot until we are all happy with what we got! You will receive over 100 edited images in usually under a week on a downloadable gallery!
After the session you won’t hear much from me, however I love to help with timelines! I will not only make your timeline that fits your day, but I will also then send you a nice professional copy for you and your bridal party/family to have a copy of. a month before the wedding I email you a form to fill out with all the info i will need (example: addresses, time i start and end, names of important people etc. i have a spot on there for a shot list however you can send me that separate if you like.
your big day is here! I of course will touch base a few times to make sure we are on the same page with everything. we might even have a phone call the week of if either of us have any concerns or questions.
THE wedding day
I will come an hour early to unload and grab details. if i have never done a wedding at your venue, I might come even earlier to check out the venue, locations for portraits etc. most of my packages come with a 2nd photographer. that person will usually go with the men in their getting ready location. my. i will go with the ladies in their getting ready location. before the big day I will talk to you about a first look if this is something you are interested in. ok so after the getting ready, I try and make sure we have time to do separate bridal party pictures and portraits of bride and groom separate. (this is if no first look, I do all bridal party and couples’ portraits at first look) then on to the ceremony. my 2nd shooter and I just switch off on different sides getting the best angles and shots. I do my best to stay in the back or sides. I don’t like getting right up into the couple’s space during the ceremony. (I use a zoom lens to get close up shots) after the ceremony we go into portraits. family, bridal party and then couple. (you will want 60 minutes for portraits) my 2nd shooter will grab a few cocktail hour pictures but then join us for the couple’s pictures, getting different angles and helping me with my light. when we all feel like we had enough portraits it is time for the reception. again my 2nd photographer and I will get in different locations to get lots of different shots. after intros most couples go into their first dance but just remember this is your day!!! Do whatever you want! after dances usually it is dinner time. I will do a few things; I usually grab the wedding rings and do details shots and try and grab table pictures with you and your guests right before dinner. this is a shot most couples want but I will tell you, if you don’t do this before dinner it is usually hard to get after because guests are now all over chatting! ok so next thing, if we are in a location with sunset, I will pull the couple outside for those pictures. I work really well with the DJ’s and always inform them as to what I am doing so we don’t miss anything. during the reception, my 2nd shooter and I will just go around grabbing all the shots we can get, candid’s, posed, details, family, people dancing etc.! an average wedding I will take over 7,000 pictures. I make sure to always take more than I need to get the best shot! You of course won’t get 7,000!! LOL however I do give lots and lots of images. most couples feel like they miss their own wedding day because it goes so fast! I like to give you as many pictures as I can, even if they are not perfect so you can truly relive your best day ever!! before I leave for the night, I will possibly grab cool night shots with the couple and make sure you don’t want any more shots! Then I am out!
I go home and edit a few pictures to give you that night. Two days later if approved by you, I will post a large teaser of your day on social media. you will have all your pictures in under 3 weeks on a downloadable gallery and another week later I mail out a few flash drives.
that is it!! this would be a typical day with me at your wedding. I do help try and move things along if I see we are running behind. I don’t want you to miss any photo opportunities, so it just helps us all! throughout the day, I encourage my couples to tell me anytime they want a special shot, with an uncle or friend etc.! this is your day!!
What do I bring?
I am a light photographer. What does that mean? I use strobes even outside. this takes away shadows and really helps with harsh sun light. I also use off camera flashes inside during getting ready, ceremony if inside and reception. I will respect pastors wishes if they don’t want flash at ceremony. I use two cameras the whole day. one camera has a wider lens and the other a zoom lens, so most of the time I don’t have to be right in your face during ceremony and reception. I bring tons of batteries and extra everything!!! Been there done that when I didn’t have enough!!
